Graduation
Synergy
offers Graduation ceremonies
to recognize the achievement
of individuals who have
completed their year of
treatment. Each graduate
is presented with a personalized
plaque that will remain
on the wall at Synergy and
a medallion to remind them
of their commitment to sobriety.
Residents are given the
opportunity to speak—most
thank friends and family
and express optimism for
the next phase in their
lives.
The
Synergy Butterfly Award
In
1996, the State of Tennessee
made changes to the licensure
requirements for all residential
drug and alcohol treatment
centers. Major building
renovations were required
in order for Synergy to
comply with the new requirements,
and for a brief time the
fate of our program was
uncertain. There were 55
clients enrolled in the
residential program, yet
licensure rules only allowed
eight residents to sleep
in this building.
Faced
with a major housing crisis
but not wanting to turn
away any men and women who
had come to Synergy for
help, Synergy found last
minute assistance from the
Resurrection Community Church
of God. This small congregation
opened their hearts and
their doors to us for five
months, housing men from
our program in an unused
building at their church.
Synergy
was able to successfully
completed the renovation
process and the building
was licensed for 65 men
and women. During that time,
Synergy went through a metamorphosis,
much like a caterpillar
turns into a butterfly.
In honor of the kindness
shown to us by the Resurrection
Community Church of God
which allowed our transformation,
the Synergy Butterfly Award
was created. While ALL graduates
have completed a phenomenal
feat, the Butterfly Award
is a special honor that
we reserve for one male
and one female graduate
who have shown a particularly
exceptional transformation
during their year of treatment
at Synergy.
